The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of ONE Institute, the International Gay and Lesbian Archives, was held March 5, 1997, at 7 PM, at the Lesbian Legacy Collection, 634 W. 27th St., #7, Los Angeles, California. The meeting was chaired by Jesse Jacobs. All of the Directors except Sylvia Rhue were in attendance. Ernie Potvin arriving at 7:50. Also in attendance was Yolanda Retter.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Walter Williams gave the President's report. He announced the deaths of David Cameron, former president of ONE, and Don Slater, editor of ONE Magazine in the 1950's.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
John O'Brien gave the Executive Director's Report. He announced that at a Board meeting of the Homosexual Information Center [HIC] held the previous Sunday, it was decided to merge the HIC collection with ONE's according to the terms stated in motion (#4) below. In addition, the Louisiana office would continue to function as an information center. Also ONE would pay for storage of HIC's books, and HIC would pay for the storage of their files until HIC's collections can be moved into the 909 Building.
Upon motion [#4] of Walter Williams, the Board decided to receive with gratitude the Homosexual Information Center books, periodicals and miscellaneous collections which will be incorporated into the general collection of ONE Institute. We agree to provide space for HIC archival files. Thanks are expressed to the HIC Directors for recognizing the importance of saving our history.

Upon motion [#5] of Karin Quimby, the Board decided to move the HIC collection to Iron Mountain.
Extreme gratitude is expressed for the hard work and dedicated service of John O'Brien and Jim Kepner for gaining the collection of the Homosexual Information Center, as well as other collections. Thanks are also expressed to Ernie Potvin, Jim Schneider and Antonio Sanchez for assisting in this work.
Flo Fleishman introduced the following motion [#7], which was adopted by the board:
John discussed the need for press releases regarding the Southern trip, the Lesbian Legacy Collection and the merger with HIC. Jim Kepner, along with Flo Fleishman an John O'Brien, will write the press releases, and Walter Williams will edit them.
