Memorandum
At approx. 8:15 am april 19, 2002, I James V. Schneider (aka Jim Schneider) phoned AnthonyGardner at Calif. State Northridge where I reached only his voice mail (vm). I left word (lw) on his vm machine for him to call me.
At 4:15 pm approx. 4-19-02 AnthonyGardner returned my call. Anthonystated the issue of one's ownership of all HIC material has been claimed in a letter from one's attorney to the dean he works for. Anthonydid not see the letter, and did not get a copy of it.
It now appears to me one is attempting to hijack HIC's collection through some legalese skullduggery.
Nevertheless the following facts remain: a few days after Don Slater's passing 2-13-97, John O'Brien summoned me, Billy Glover and others from HIC to a Sunday meeting in the 909 building. John promised HIC would have full autonomy and a separate room of their own in that same building. He stipulated the 909 building would be completely refurbished and ready to enter therein within 6–8 months thereafter. That didn't happen, and I ended up 2 1/2 years later taking charge of the building refurbishing.
As people readied to move collections into the building, I was asked by Pat Allen to agree to let LLC [the Lesbian Legacy Collection] have our first designated room and to take another room. As HIC was moving into another room, other collections were stashed in the same room without asking permission or [our] agreeing to it. These included inter-alia the aids collection and the dignity collection.
In January 2001 I was summoned by Jim Morrow, Pat Allen and Lynn Sipe to a meeting one evening in the conference room. I thought it was for the purpose of helping me set up the HIC collection for display. Instead, to my dismay, it was for the purpose of asking me to sign over the entire HIC collection to ONE. I declined. I was disgusted. Since then I have been wary of certain individuals and what was taking place at ONE.
AnthonyGardner stated he needed some clarification of the ownership of HIC's collection, and I indicated in response to him that this request would be forthcoming as soon as possible.
